Thanksgiving 2014

There are so many things to be grateful for!  We were excited to have Amanda, Grandma and Grandpa Reeve come for the holiday and baby brother’s arrival.  RJ found great delight in making mince meat pie from scratch.  He made it last year but used ground beef instead of suet.  This year, he went all out and even improvised sprinkling cinnamon sugar on top.  I made a banana cream pie especially for Amanda who loves cream pies.  The merengue was a mile high until it cooked and cooled but it still tasted good.  I also made a pumpkin, caramel pecan pie.  We decided it was best to have pecan and pumpkin separate for next year.  We had rolls, stuffing, ham (in leu of turkey since neither of us are big fans of turkey.  Don’t ask me why it took 11 years to make the switch), potatoes and gravy, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, grapes, green salad and cranberry juice mixed with 7-up.  I was so excited about this great spread but because my stomach was pushed to half it’s normal size, I could only eat one plate.  We went around the table sharing the things we are grateful for.  It’s always helpful to remember our blessings no matter our trials.

After stuffing ourselves, the boys watched a football game and Amanda brought a series called Pemberly Murder Mystery.  It was a perfect last supper before I had to fast the next day.
